Circumcised men, who have had their protective foreskin stolen, will develop a protective layer of keratin on the glans penis of their penis. As the layer of keratin thickens, cracks will usually develop which give the glans penis a rough cracked appearance, although the properly protected glans penis is usually smooth and glossy in appearance.
The keratin buildup over the nerves in the glans penis dulls sensations.
De-keratinization. After a man restores his foreskin to the point where the glans is usually covered, the skin oil and moisture present under the new foreskin will usually cause gradual loss of the layer of keratin. Some men have reported peeling of the glans in the same manner that skin will peel after too much exposure to the sun. Typically, in Caucasian males, the color of the glans takes on a purplish hue and the glossiness increases.
Most restored men report a gradual increase in sensation after loss of the keratin layer. The increase in sensation after restoration usually causes increased arousal and increased production of pre-ejaculate.

I didn't want to force this too early, since unpleasant sensitivity to abrasion against clothes might have been the most bothersome circumcision consequence for me, but have recently started wearing a retainer (Chris' silicone one) while sleeping at night, and always have either that, or a device on when going out or walking around. It took a few weeks before I noticed some outer layers sloughing off (like dry skin flaking away), and the pleasant/sexual sort of sensitivity has definitely improved. I have a medical procedure scheduled for tomorrow, though, and will have to go out without any cover for the first time in over a year. I set aside my tightest pair of briefs, to hopefully make that less unpleasant.
