The grief never ends - RAGE - 06-27-2026 First post on the forum. Like most, I was mutilated at birth. I discovered what happened to me when I was a pre-teen and it destroyed my entire world. From the jump, I was able to realize that such a procedure is incredibly awful and something we should not be doing to people. When I realized sensitivity was taken from me, those feelings intensified. I don't have much to say. Fuck male genital mutilation and fuck everyone who even remotely supports it. Yes, the same thing happened to me. I was nine when I found out. I did not learn about sensitivity until much later. The sensitivity loss aspect of it is what I focused on when I find out about the harms done to me. It devastated me and crushed my soul. I have never recovered. RE: The grief never ends - fetcher - 07-17-2026 It was my first relationship with an intact guy, now my husband, that really drove home the sensory difference to me. With the magnitude of damage done being so variable, I might have lost less than some (we estimate 40-60%), but on the flip side have had to deal with lifelong day-to-day irritation from glans abrasion against clothing. Used to assume that was something everyone had to put up with. Hubby finally overcame my skepticism & inertia, and convinced me to start restoring about a year ago, during which I may have regained 5 or 10%? Definitely an improvement, though, and certainly better than losing more every year with age like had been happening, but of course it's early days still. I don't understand Soval's response. RE: The grief never ends - Old-guy - 07-17-2026 As you restore you will gain gliding action. The motion of the skin has been found to be pleasantly stimulating. RE: The grief never ends - token - 07-18-2026 Thanks for sharing and I obviously can relate quite a lot to your feelings around the issue. the hardest part fir me is the sensitivity loss and that circumcision is basically nothing more than a way to mark property. It disgusts me thinking that people out there think of us as nothing more than cattle to brand RE: The grief never ends - fetcher - 07-19-2026 @Old-guy Yes, it's very nice. We both noticed improved glide after maybe 9 months, even though I'm still stuck at that pesky "hump," not yet CI-4. Definitely a welcome improvement, even knowing there's such a long way still to go @token Day-to-day irritation and discomfort from glans abrasion against clothing was actually what bothered me more, and finally got me off the fence on trying to improve my situation. I do have skin that's more sensitive (in a bad way) than average, and often cut scratchy tags out of my shirts, for instance, so that probably factors in. One nice thing is that although the pace of restoration is frustratingly slow, simply wearing a silicone retainer or other comfortable device when going out provides immediate relief from the irritation. A good preview of how I hope things will be in a few years, when I no longer need one. Obviously, it sucks having to devote years of effort to partially fix something that should never have been broken in the first place, but I think taking the initiative to improve what I can, rather than just being passively resigned to "what's done is done," has been good for my mental health. |
