Introduction - Old-guy - 06-19-2026

When my father was born, he was not circumcised. At age six, he reportedly developed an infection and was circumcised, apparently without anesthesia, as he suffered great pain.

When I was born about 20 years later, according to my mother, he insisted that I be circumcised, so that I would not suffer the pain that he experienced! In those days, doctors erroneously believed that infants could not feel pain, because the nerves were not yet myelinated. They even did open-heart surgery without anesthesia!

My father apparently believed that all intact boys developed infection, so in his mind, my infection would be inevitable. When I was born, little information was available. I believe that he was well-meaning and trying to protect me based on the limited information available, so I do not bear feelings of hatred and resentment

I learned that I had been circumcised when I was nine years old. I was so shocked that I lapsed into silence and could say no more.

In my community at that time, only about one-half of boys were circumcised, so I learned what I was missing. Needless to say, I was NOT happy about my loss, but there was nothing to be done.

Later as an adult, I learned about the existence of non-surgical foreskin restoration because of BUFF’s announcement. I started to restore right away.  At this time, I am fully restored and have been for several decades.

I became an intactivist after NOCIRC was organized.

That whole "infants feel no pain" thing is a great example of how terribly fallible the medical profession can be, based simply on groupthink and "we wish it to be so", no real evidence. And with such awful consequences! So many others throughout history, including promotion of circumcision itself, and the fad for lobotomies to "solve' all sorts of mental health problems. Little wonder that so many people distrust doctors.

That's great that you were able to make yourself whole again. About how long did your restoration take?

My restoration was over a ten-year year period, but there were breaks when I did not do any restoration, so it is hard to say how much time it actually took. My glans penis is fully covered and has been for a long time.

My glans penis was heavily keratinized with a very rough appearance before I started restoration, but it has de-keratinized and is now relatively smooth and glossy. The color now has a purple tint that was not present before.

I have no regrets about undertaking restoration.

I'm 8 days past my 1-year anniversary, having started on June 17 of 2025. In that time I've advanced from maybe CI-2 to CI-3. I kick myself for not having started sooner, when first finding out restoration was even possible, more than a decade ago - I could have been done by now! Back then I'd assumed it was mostly just a cosmetic thing, though, with little or no possibility for regaining lost function or sensation. I guess one silver lining to having waited, though, is that available devices and techniques have improved a little.

It is a slow process. There are 25.4 millimeters in an inch. One does it a millimeter at a time. One day, when you sit down, your shaft skin will lap over the corona of your glans penis and that will be the start of your foreskin!

The benefits increase as one restores. The first benefit that some men experience is an end to painful erections.

Getting to CI-4 usually take a long time as one is producing a double layered skin because it is starting to fold into two layers.

As one continues to restore, one will start to have gliding action. That is more important than it would seem.
