I had to deal with first hand what it was like to have a therapist disagree with your beliefs. I began seeing a therapist in 2022 (I no longer see them) that always attempted to derail me and downplay the damage that was done to me as a baby. For context my therapist was a woman that was a mother to three sons and one daughter. She had all her sons circumcised as infants like me and believed the procedure was a trivial matter.

No matter how hard I tried to convince her that she was on the wrong side of history, she held her ground firm and refused to change her stance. She mentioned that she was uneasy about her first son's circumcision but had it done anyway because of cultural norms. I asked why she didnt have her daughter done and of course she disagreed that male circumcision and female circumcision were relatable at all.

I have since began seeing a new therapist that understands my concerns. For context, my new therapist is a circumcised man that is neutral on the topic but understands where i am coming from better than anyone else in my life ever has.

Jaxpunch:

The issue you describe with your would-be therapist is not uncommon in the United States where so many people have been brainwashed about circumcision. Pease see what Intact America has to say.

Intact America can put you into contact with some knowledgeable therapists.
