Yes, I've looked into it.
Lawsuits are somethings you can pursue. Unfortunately, the hospital no longer has the records which means no case. I can't even know the doctor's name. I could sue my parents, but not to get anything really out of it. My state has incredibly strict discovery rules. No lawyer would take my case.
However, you can do a few things. You can submit police reports. Write out the full explanation, don't expect the officer to. Will it be prosecuted? Almost certainly not - but you create a record. I think we need to start building these records as a community.
You can also submit a medical ethics complaint. It certainly violates medical ethics. Will they do anything? No. However, we build up a lot of records. If there were a lot of medical ethics complaints, it'd become something they'd have to deal with.
